BE GREAT:Graduate

The Future – Full of Questions – We have ANSWERS!!!

Where will it take you? How do I maneuver High School? How do I prepare myself for College? What do I want to do after High School? What options do I have? Can I enter High School with any credits? How do I prepare for the ACT/SAT? Where will I get the money for College?

The Boys and Girls Club of Massillon is creating opportunities for youth in High School and Junior High to explore options and get ready for all that the future has to offer! Programs include strategies that allow us to provide a solid foundation for youth to maintain grade progression; accumulate high school credits, graduate on time and be prepared to enter the workforce or further educational opportunities through vocational training, college or military paths. We are implementing the program components for the foundational skills needed for BE GREAT: Graduate. Boys and Girls Clubs of America uses evidence based practices and curriculums in delivering these programs: Money Matters, Career Launch and Goals for Graduation. The Boys and Girls Club of Massillon is prepared to provide support for on-time graduation and create opportunities to develop and enhance the employment skills our youth need to secure long term sustainable futures. The Boys and Girls Club also has daily Homework Help and after school Tutoring available.
Coming this fall, in partnership with The Junior League of Stark County, guest speakers will provide interactive programs that expose youth to real experiences with different careers and occupations. In addition, there will be opportunities to review college and military entrance information, and prepare for employment. On September 19th from 6:00pm-7:30 pm at the Boys and Girls Club, members of The Junior League of Stark County will discuss "Can a Hobby become a Career?” - how to take that passion or interest you have and build it into a business or side job. Cake decorating will be the featured exercise, but the possibilities are endless; including landscaping, art, financial resources, etc. Future programs will include Career Exploration, College and Military Night, for Employment and many others.
